Tottenham handed massive boost in Guirassy race as agent denies Fenerbahce transfer agreement

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a massive boost in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy this summer.

After escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth, Tottenham have set out to restructure their squad ahead of the new season.

They may not have Champions League football, but that hasn’t stopped the North Londoners, who have already announced the arrival of two defenders.

Tottenham are now focusing on attacking areas and have set their sights on a proven goalscorer.

There were reports that Guirassy could be on his way to Fenerbahce, but the player’s agent has shut down those rumours in a massive boost to Spurs.

Guirassy is said to be ‘evaluating his options’ ahead of next season, opening the door for Tottenham to swoop in, although it’s poised to be an intriguing race for the 30-year-old striker.

Speaking to Sky reporter Patrick Berger, the Guinea international’s brother and agent, Karamba Guirassy, made it clear that no agreement has been reached with any club.

“To clarify: no agreement of any kind has been reached“, he said. “Serhou is currently evaluating his options for next season. Any claim of a verbal deal is simply not true.”

While that comes as a huge relief for Tottenham, they still have their work cut out with half the clubs in Europe lining up to secure Guirassy’s signature.

According to Berger, Aston Villa, AC Milan and Atlético Madrid are also monitoring the striker’s situation and are aware that he could be on the move this summer.

Tottenham will need to act fast to jump ahead of the queue and secure his signature.

Guirassy was in fine form for Dortmund last season, scoring 22 goals and chipping in with six assists in 46 games across all competitions.

He scored 17 times in 33 Bundesliga games, helping Der BVB secure Champions League football with a second-place finish.

His lethal goalscoring skills will come in handy at Tottenham, who are hoping to return to the upper echelons of Premier League football under Roberto De Zerbi next season.
