A knee problem foiled Jean-Philippe Mateta’s (28) move to AC Milan back in January, but the Serie A side have retained their interest in the Crystal Palace forward, as per a report from L’Équipe.
Mateta had made his intention to leave Crystal Palace in January clear. He had looked to be closing in on a move to Nottingham Forest before AC Milan’s intervention, however, medical tests revealed a knee issue. It was reported at the time that the Frenchman would even need surgery, although that was avoided.

Whilst Mateta’s relationship with the Crystal Palace fans was damaged, he returned to finish the season in fine form, netting the winner in the UEFA Europa Conference League final victory over Rayo Vallecano. He earned himself a place in Crystal Palace folklore and also in the France squad for the FIFA World Cup.
And once again, there are rumours of an exit. The link between Mateta and AC Milan still exists… and the Italian side could soon be managed by former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner. Should the France international leave this summer, a Premier League rival or a Serie A side are the most likely destinations.
