Following the arrival of former first-round safety Darnell Savage Jr., the Pittsburgh Steelers have parted ways with a former Michigan Wolverine.
On Tuesday, the Steelers signed Savage and released ex-Michigan defensive back Makari Paige in a corresponding move.
A multi-year starter at the University of Michigan, Paige recorded 135 combined tackles, one sack, and three interceptions during his collegiate career from 2020 to 2024.

Paige, who helped lead the Michigan Wolverines to a CFB National Championship in 2023, signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft.
Waived as part of final roster cuts, Paige wouldn't make his NFL debut in his rookie season. His latest opportunity came in Pittsburgh, where he signed with the Steelers before OTAs on May 13.
