Steelers' Alex Highsmith linked to 4 NFL trade landing spots

As if the Alex Highsmith trade rumors weren't troublesome enough, the Pittsburgh Steelers' edge rusher has been linked to not one, not two, not three, but four potential landing spots.

According to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, his sources indicated that the Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and San Francisco 49ers could be trade landing spots for Highsmith.

"Highsmith has flashed strong pass-rush potential in the past, but has been unable to get home consistently," La Canfora wrote. "Getting with new coaches in a new scheme could help, and several teams were at least monitoring the Garrett situation, league sources pointed to Washington, Philadelphia, Buffalo and San Francisco, who could well end up suitors for Highsmith."

Drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Highsmith quickly emerged as a consistent edge presence opposite T.J. Watt, helping the team transition away from Bud Dupree, who left Pittsburgh in 2021.

While many believe Highsmith could remain with the Steelers through the 2026 season, his recent absence at OTAs and Nick Herbig's massive contract extension, along with the recent trade rumors, are raising questions about his immediate future in Pittsburgh.
