NFL Network's Ian Rapoport expects the New England Patriots and star cornerback Christian Gonzalez to reach a contract agreement.
And fans might not have to wait long for a resolution.
"Before the season, I think there's a good chance," Rapoport said on The Pat McAfee Show. "The next couple of days, I have not heard that. ...I imagine he is going to get a huge deal. I imagine the Patriots will make it work. I just don’t know that it’s going to be imminent."

Gonzalez has not attended the voluntary offseason practices, leaving many to wonder whether he will show up for mandatory minicamp next week.
The Patriots picked up the fifth-year option on his contract, which enables them to secure his services through at least the 2027 season. However, the hope is that the two sides can come together and hammer out a long-term deal that works for both parties.
The cost to keep Gonzalez won't get any cheaper. This offseason, the Los Angeles Rams signed cornerback Trent McDuffie to a deal that pays him around $31 million annually. Gonzalez, a former All-Pro and Pro Bowler, is an ascending talent who is already one of the best at his position.
His contract numbers could reset the market once more.
