Patrick Mahomes per-game salary after new Chiefs contract

Underdog highlighted the scale of Mahomes’ new salary by comparing his per-game earnings to Puka Nacua’s entire rookie deal.

Based on the reported $64 million yearly average over a 17-game regular season, Mahomes would make around $3.76 million per game.

That figure is higher than what some players make across several seasons, which is why the contract has become one of the most talked-about deals in the NFL.

The deal could reportedly rise to $522.25 million through incentives, with guarantee structures that push it even further into record territory.

Patrick Mahomes contract puts him above NFL rivals

The extension makes Mahomes the league’s highest-paid player by annual average, ahead of fellow quarterbacks like Dak Prescott, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence.

Josh Allen is still the closest comparison when it comes to guaranteed money, but Mahomes’ new deal is well ahead in terms of yearly value.

It is also a major signal from the Chiefs following a tough 2025 season, when Mahomes suffered a serious knee injury and they missed the playoffs.

Mahomes’ track record explains the belief. He has won three Super Bowls, three Super Bowl MVPs and two regular-season MVP awards.

He holds a reported career record of 95-31, boasts a dominant playoff history and has one of the highest passing-yards-per-game averages in league history.

The Chiefs are banking on 2025 being just a blip rather than the start of a decline. At nearly $3.76 million per regular-season game, they are paying Mahomes like their future still depends on him.
