Drake Maye links A.J. Brown and Stefon Diggs amid reunion speculation

FOXBOROUGH, Mass — While A.J. Brown has only been in the building for roughly a week since being traded to the New England Patriots, quarterback Drake Maye has already noticed an important trait that one key playmaker had last season.

When speaking with reporters, Maye said that it's "hard not to get excited," adding that he's been a "great teammate so far." With that, it reminds him of Stefon Diggs' contributions during the 2025 season.

"He knows what it’s like to win and he adds something in that room that we’ve kind of been looking for," Maye said of Brown. "I think Steph provided for us last year, and there’s been guys that are growing in the roles, but just coming in with that stature and his ability and his size and just the respect that you walk in there with that kind of Steph had. A.J.’s got it, too.”

However, there has also been a lot of speculation that even with the acquisition of Brown, the Patriots could be looking to bring back Diggs. So, is there any truth to that?

"I mean, I think we are probably at the number that we would need right now," Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said. "I would not say anything is off the table. We would want to add anybody that could help us. I am not going to give a percentage on it, but I think we are happy with where we are at right now with the numbers and the people in the receiver room.

"I appreciate Stefon as a person, as a player and what he did for us last year. I value that. He helped us win football games, helped us get to where we got. But right now I don’t think that that is something that I think we are exploring. But I would never say no."
