Caixinha showed players old house in first team talk - Halliday

Picture the scene, a new manager has been appointed and is meeting with his players. It's time to talk tactics, ambitions, opposition.

Recently retired former Hearts, Motherwell and Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday played under his fair share of managers.

But one first meeting with a new boss has lived long in the memory - Pedro Caixinha's arrival at Ibrox from Al-Gharafa in 2017. The Portuguese manager would leave Rangers later that year after seven defeats in 26 games.

"Quite often you'll just talk about your non-negotiables, you'll talk about the club culture, what you want to bring to the group, whether it's a fine system, it's your style of play, your system," Halliday told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"But his (Pedro Caixinha's) very first meeting was to show us a picture of the house that he left in Qatar.

"And his first words were, 'I've left this house to come coach you guys'.

"So, straight away we didn't quite feel on top of the world in the first minute or two."
