Victor Wembanyama's stats might look good at first glance because he got a 26-point and 12-rebound double-double. However, it was a struggle because he only shot 28.6% from the field against the stingy New York Knicks defense.

It was not a performance that people expected from Wemby and the San Antonio Spurs in such a high-stakes game. This was a rough night for the Frenchman, but it seems he's okay with what transpired in Game 1, knowing he can bounce back.
Victor Wembanyama is confident he can bounce back in Game 2
As a 7'5" behemoth, most people expect Wembanyama to be dominant. In most matchups, he can stand out and prove he is the best player in the league. However, this was not the case against the Knicks.
With the combination of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks have the personnel to at least slow Wembanyama down. They did so in Game 1, as they made Wemby play inefficient basketball.

Spurs fans should not be too worried, though, because Wembanyama himself is ready to bounce back. He knows what he can do better in Game 2, which can be scary for anyone rooting for the Knicks.
"I'm gonna figure it out. I was bad tonight. It's not more complicated than that... We've been down in a series before, never in the Finals, obviously, but I'm not kicking myself about anything really. I mean, I'm not worried the slightest," Wembanyama said about his struggles in Game 1.
That is the right mindset to have, especially in the NBA Finals. Wembanyama is ready to prove that he is one of the best players in the league, and he is ready to do so on the biggest stage the NBA has to offer.
