Real Madrid’s presidential election on June 7th has become the biggest talking point in Spanish football, as the club brace itself for its first such election in 20 years.
The stakes are high, with businessman Enrique Riquelme ready to take on Florentino Perez’s empire, even enticing members with the promise of signing Rodri if he becomes president.

The odds, though, still heavily favour Florentino Perez, as he not only enjoys institutional favour but is also close with some of the legends of the club, including Toni Kroos.

While Kroos is a known admirer of Perez, the Real Madrid president also received support from two more of Real Madrid’s midfield legends, in the form of Casemiro and Luka Modric.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, both have both taken to Instagram to publicly declare their support for Florentino Perez ahead of the vote, posting photos of themselves alongside the president from their time at the club.

This is a considerable show of support for Perez, as both Modric and Casemiro carry significant weight in Real Madrid’s legacy.
Alongside Toni Kroos, the pair formed the midfield backbone of Zinedine Zidane’s legendary side that won three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018, one of the most celebrated periods in Real Madrid’s illustrious history.

What is more interesting is that both Modric and Kroos have been linked with a potential return to Real Madrid, in a technical role.

Perez is already trying hard to convince Kroos to come back as part of Real Madrid’s technical setup next season, and it is likely that the German will be open to the move.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also open to welcoming back Modric in a technical role, with the Croatian international likely to hang up his boots after the FIFA World Cup 2026 this summer.
