"I had definitely missed playing with him" – Musiala excited to link up with Wirtz again

When Germany face Finland in a World Cup warm-up friendly on Sunday evening, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz are expected to share the pitch for the first time since November 2024.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Musiala expressed his excitement about finally reuniting with the Liverpool star, with whom he has developed a formidable partnership for Germany.

“I had definitely missed playing with him. It’s a lot of fun being on the pitch with him. I’m looking forward to the coming weeks,” Musiala said.

Musiala is set to make his long-awaited return for Germany, having missed out on international duty since March 2025 because of injuries.

“I’m really happy. It feels like I’ve been away for a long time. But the first few days, the mood in the whole team – I’m really enjoying it,” Musiala said.

“The first few days have been great. The mentality has been excellent, and I’m looking forward to being back out on the pitch (on Sunday).”
