Paige Bueckers gives priceless reaction to $65,000 debut jersey sale

Paige Bueckers’ WNBA debut jersey has become another sign of her growing influence, selling for $65,000 and setting a new league memorabilia record.

That figure doubled the previous high, which was set by A’ja Wilson’s 2025 Finals Game 1 and Game 2 jersey, sold for $32,150.

Bueckers has already lived up to the hype as the Dallas Wings’ No. 1 pick, averaging 19.4 points and 5.1 assists early this season. But it is not just her skills drawing attention, her personality is making headlines too.

Speaking to Melissa Triebwasser, Bueckers called the $65,000 price “insane”, but her first thought was not about herself. Instead, she focused on what it meant for women’s basketball.

She stated: “That’s insane to me. It’s crazy, that much money is insane to me. And I’m just very grateful and feeling very blessed and fortunate that people are that invested in women’s sports. I mean, people have been supporting, you can see just the rise in popularity, the growth in respect.

“And it just means so much because I was just a little kid growing up watching the Minnesota Lynx, and I didn’t get to watch them on national television.

“If I wanted to go see them play, I would have to go to a game. Not everybody that is fortunate has that ability to do that. So just to be a part of the rise right now, we’re just extremely grateful for it.”

Bueckers later added: “Like I talked about before, I think records are meant to be broken. And it’s an honor to be the first to do something because that means so many people after you are gonna do it, and somebody after you is gonna break that record. So just to be a part of that experience means a lot. And I can’t even imagine, I wouldn’t even pay $10 for my own jerseys.”

That reaction is part of what makes her so popular. Bueckers is productive, marketable, and still able to make a historic moment feel down-to-earth.

The jersey price says plenty about her appeal, but her response showed she is keeping it in perspective.
