Penei Sewell continues to embrace change. The Detroit Lions' offensive tackle is using the NFL offseason training activities (OTAs) to help transition into taking over the starting left tackle role.

Sewell addressed the position switch following Thursday's practice at the Lions' campus in Allen Park, Mich.
"For me, it's about taking day-by-day and focusing on what's right in front of me," Sewell said. "If I look too far ahead, it can get frustrating. so I just come into the building every day and find something to improve."
The four-time Pro Bowler remains in line to assume the position from a retired Taylor Decker, a lineup regular since 2016.
The Lions' brass did not sound concerned about the move. Sewell played left tackle at Oregon and made eight starts at the position during his rookie campaign.

"It's a little like riding a bike," Lions coach Dan Campbell said May 29.
Lions' Penei Sewell confident in switch to left tackle
A three-time All-Pro, Sewell has plenty of experience at his new position. He started as a left tackle at Oregon before transitioning to the right side after being drafted No. 7 overall in 2021.
Early in the offseason, new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing anticipates a smooth transition.
"He looks like, if not the best, one of the best tackles in football," he said Thursday.
Sewell sounded confident.
"I think everybody has a pretty good understanding now of what the switch is like," he said. "There have been other players around the league who have talked about making the move.

"It's different. You're switching your stance and changing a lot of things you've done before. But it is what it is. Everybody has already talked about it, so I'm not going to reinvent all that. Right now, I'm just focused on myself."
Campbell also sounded confident.
“Penei Sewell can do it all,” he said.
