Kylian Mbappé finishes as UCL top scorer, Vinicius Jr joint-tops assists charts

Real Madrid forwards Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Jr have finished the Champions League seasons as top scorer and joint-top assist-getters respectively.

Kylian Mbappe finished the season with 15 goals in 11 Champions League games. The player just behind him was Harry Kane with 14, and the closest player to the Frenchman that played in the final was Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who had 10 goals in the competition in third place.

Obviously, he would have had to score six goals in the final to win the golden boot, which would have been an impossible task.

Vinicius Jr, on the other hand, had eight assists across 14 matches in the competition. Bayern’s Michael Olise also had eight assists.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were joint-third in the standings with six assists each.

Mbappe and Vinicius Jr would have wanted a lot more than these awards this season, and they would be interested in winning the competition next time around, even if that means not being chart-toppers.
