India vs Afghanistan, Only Test, Day 3: Live Updates and Scorecard

Afghanistan at Day 2 Stumps: 152 (Trial by 412 runs at Day 3)

Left arm spinner Manav Suthar, on his Test debut, stole the show yet again and completed a fifer with a record of 6/33. He joined the list of Indian bowlers who have taken a five-wicket haul on Test debut.

Afghanistan’s Rahmat Shah gave them a strong fight with a commendable half-century; however, they never regained their composure, trailing by 412 runs with the follow-on enforced.

Afghanistan at Day 2 Stumps: 113/5 (Rahmat Shah 43*)

Manav Suthar finished with 3/21 in 15.5 overs at the end of Day 2 as he also dismissed Afsar Zazai with a caught and bowled on the final ball of the day.

Meanwhile, Rahmat Shah remains unbeaten at 43, the highest score among the Afghan batters in this Test as the visitors still trail by 451 runs.

Afghanistan at Tea on Day 2: 28/1 (Gurbaz 0, Sediqullah 11)

India got five overs to bowl at Afghanistan before tea, and they removed Abdul Malik. Suthar took just four balls to get his first test wicket. The pitch looks dry and the spin duo of Suthar and Kuldeep will be difficult to tackle.

India declare at 564/8 (Sundar 52*, Kuldeep 9*)

India scored quick runs in the second session and added 89 runs in 17 overs. Just after Sundar completed his 50, Gill called back the players to the dressing room.

Siraj played a cameo, scoring 22 runs in just 12 balls, with four boundaries and a six. The Indian quicks will have close to eight overs before heading back for tea.

India at lunch on Day 2: 475/6 (Sundar 14*, Suthar 9*)

The morning session belonged to Afghanistan as they picked up three crucial wickets, including those of Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. The new cherry was taken early, and Saleem Safi made the most of it.

Gill nicked to the keeper, whereas Pant was dismissed while trying to launch Shahidi out of the park. Meanwhile, Jurel misjudged the line, and Safi made sure to kiss the top of the off-stump with a peach of a delivery.

India would look to add another 120-odd runs in the second session before declaring.

India at Stumps on Day 1: 368/3 (Pant 50*, Gill 103*)

It has been a remarkable day with the bat for India as Gill and Rahul ended up scoring three-figure runs. Pant has also got his 50, which will be a massive morale booster after he lost his vice-captaincy to Rahul earlier in the series. India will look to score quickly on day two and might declare after going past 550. Afghanistan have not taken the new ball, and their quicks might take the new cherry tomorrow morning to make the most of the morning moisture.

India at Tea on Day 1: 209/2 (Rahul 81*, Gill 20*)

The hosts added 113 runs in the second session with a solitary dismissal. Sai Sudharsan fell for 81 runs, missing a century after attempting a drive on the up, but nicked it to the keeper.

Mohammad Saleem was the bowler who struck for the Afghans once again. He has figures of 2/50 in his 10 overs so far. Gill and Rahul though, appaear to be in fluent touch as India are set to post a huge first-innings total.

India at lunch on Day 1: 96/1 (Rahul 37*, Sudharsan 32*)

India had a jittery opening to the one-off Test match against Afghanistan due to the early departure of Yashasvi Jaiswal, caught behind by Afsar Zazai off Mohammad Saleem while trying to glance the ball down leg side.

KL Rahul seemed to be struggling early on, and after the Afghans turned down reviewing his nick off Zia-ur-Rehman due to a lack of clarity by the Afghan wicketkeeper, he escaped an LBW off Saleem that was not even appealed.

Sai Sudharsan batted alongside Rahul after the early wicket of Jaiswal to take the score close to 100 runs, while Saleem took the only wicket of the session.

Toss result: India opt to bat first

The two captains, Shubman Gill and Hashmatullah Shahidi, are out in the middle for the toss. India won the toss and opted to bat first. The match kicked off at 9:30 a.m.
