Florida baseball assistant Taylor Blacks parts ways with Gators for NC State | Reports

Florida baseball is set to have another change to its coaching staff.

Assistant coach Taylor Black will be joining NC State’s staff as the recruiting coordinator, according to multiple reports.

Black previously worked at NC State from 2014-17 and will be reunited with newly promoted head coach Chris Hart.

During his four-year stint with Florida, Black helped the program reach the College World Series twice as a hitting coach and recruiter for both the transfer portal and high school ranks.

This past season, UF finished with a 41-21 record and a No. 8 national seed, but the Gators fell short in their own regional.

“Honestly, we need to evaluate this because we have to be more consistent all the way around,” said Florida coach O’Sullivan after the Gators were eliminated by Troy. “Offensively, we went through some spurts this year where we were a little inconsistent. At this time of year, we shouldn't be having these issues with the walks and that kind of thing.

“I think the inconsistencies, whether it be offensively or pitching-wise, like this weekend, when you're inconsistent, it's very difficult to make consistent decisions.”

The departure comes just one week after Florida fired pitching coach David Kopp after five seasons.

During the Gainesville Regional, the Gators surrendered 43 runs and 49 hits.

UF will now have two staff positions to fill this offseason.
