Defender Hoole signs news Shrewsbury deal

Defender Luca Hoole has signed a new two-year deal with Shrewsbury Town.

The 24-year-old had come to the end of his previous deal with the League Two side, but has decided to stay on at a club where he scooped player of the year awards for the 2025-26 season.

BBC Radio Shropshire report that Shrewsbury beat stiff competition to retain his service, with clubs in League One interested in picking up the former Bristol Rovers defender.

Hoole has featured 85 times for Shrewsbury since moving to the Croud Meadow in the summer of 2024.

"Luca has already shown the qualities he can bring to the team, but I firmly believe his best years are ahead of him," Shrewsbury manager Gavin Cowan told the club website.
