Chelsea mull over Bowen transfer following West Ham relegation

Chelsea could make a shock move for Jarrod Bowen in the summer transfer window after West Ham United were relegated from the Premier League.

The England international, who did not make Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scored nine goals and created 11 assists this past season.

Two of those goal involvements came in their final day 3-0 win over Leeds United, but it was not enough to save the Hammers from the drop, and the club faces losing its star player as a result.

According to The Independent, Chelsea are “weighing up a move” for Bowen could capitalise on the fact West Ham are “under pressure” to sell the forward.

The Blues are said to have “considering the 29-year-old for some time” as they look to inject more experience and leadership to their dressing room.

Chelsea will face competition for Bowen, however, with other clubs looking to land the attacker on a “value deal”. West Ham may “need to sell” after losing the considerable revenue that comes with being in the Premier League, and get one of their biggest contracts off the wage bill.

The east London outfit want around £50 million for Bowen, but “industry figures” claim that suitors believe he can be bought for closer to £40 million.

Bowen refused to address his future in the immediate aftermath of West Ham’s relegation, telling the BBC: “It’s still very, very raw. Talking about futures is disrespectful to the club, the fans, everything like that.

When pressed on the matter, Bowen reiterated: “It’s disrespectful to everyone to start talking about that. I want this club to be in the Premier League. It’s a club that means so much to me and has given me so much, so my vision is to get this club back in the Premier League.”
