The Boston Red Sox pulled off a big trade for Caleb Durbin this offseason, but so far, the young infielder has struggled at the plate.

Durbin hasn’t produced offensively as many expected, but on Saturday, in Boston’s 9-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians, the third baseman came through. Durbin went 2-for-4 with a single in the sixth inning and an RBI double in the eighth, while he finished the game with two RBIs.

After the game, Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy shared plenty of praise for Durbin and how he played in Boston’s win.

“He’s getting the ball up off the ground, and he’s got some big hits in big spots,” Tracy said of Durbin postgame on Saturday. “He’s swinging the bat better.”

If Durbin can start hitting the ball as he did on Saturday, it will be a big boost to the Red Sox offense, which needs all the help it can get.

Durbin is now hitting .182 with one home run and 20 RBIs this season with the Red Sox, as it’s been a disappointing season for the 26-year-old.

Boston acquired Durbin, Andruw MonasterioAnthony Seigler, and a compensation-round draft pick in the 2026 MLB Draft from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Kyle HarrisonDavid Hamilton, and Shane Drohan.
