Marc Bernal’s resurgence has been one of the most impressive for Barcelona this past season, especially during the second half of the campaign.
The young midfielder has quietly established himself as a reliable first-team option for coach Hansi Flick and his stock is only expected to rise going forward.

According to RadioCAT (h/t FCB World), Bernal has completely rejected the idea of leaving Barcelona this summer, dismissing all offers that have come his way in recent days without giving them a second thought.
In January, Bernal had received loan offers from Girona and Como and was reportedly hesitant, with a lack of clarity over his role at the club creating genuine uncertainty about his future.

He chose to stay, and that decision has been vindicated. As the season progressed, Bernal grew in importance under Hansi Flick and the club’s reliance on him became increasingly evident.
What next season looks like

Bernal will face stiff competition for a starting spot next season, with Gavi and Frenkie de Jong also competing for the central midfield positions.
However, the expected departure of Marc Casado, who is a target for AS Monaco, is likely to reduce the overall congestion in that area of the pitch, opening up more space and opportunity for the young Spaniard to stake his claim on a regular role.

For a player who was on the periphery of the squad just months ago, the prospect of competing at the highest level week in, week out at Barcelona next season is truly impressive.
Flick, for his part, is understood to value Bernal highly, and the midfielder’s decision to stay suggests the feeling is very much mutual.
