Following a successful season on loan at FC Barcelona, Marcus Rashford is currently away with the England squad as he prepares for the World Cup. However, the forward is also waiting for clarity on his club future.
Barcelona have an agreed purchase option worth €30 million with Manchester United, allowing them to sign Rashford permanently. So far, though, the Catalan club have not activated that clause, and time is running out.

Clause expires in ten days
Indeed, according to MARCA, the agreement, signed with Manchester United last summer, expires on 15 June. If Barcelona do not act before then, the deal becomes void and any future transfer would have to be renegotiated from scratch.
Should the deadline pass, the agreed €30 million fee would no longer apply. Manchester United would be free to demand a different amount, while Barça could explore alternative arrangements such as another loan deal.

Despite speculation in recent weeks, Barcelona have not attempted to renegotiate the existing terms. Instead, they have remained in a wait-and-see position.

Rashford has done his part
Rashford is also waiting patiently for a decision. On the pitch, he has done everything he could to convince the club. He produced strong numbers throughout the season.
While there were periods where his form dipped, he finished the campaign strongly and ended on a high note. Even so, Barcelona have yet to trigger the purchase option.
Rashford even accepted a salary reduction of almost 40% compared to what he earned at Manchester United to join the club. The forward has consistently expressed his desire to play for Barcelona and is said to be happy both in the city and within the dressing room.

Gordon’s arrival shifts things
At the end of the season, Hansi Flick told Rashford that he remained part of his plans. At that stage, it seemed likely Barcelona would pay the €30 million fee.

Since then, however, the club have signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for around €80 million. His arrival appeared to cast serious doubt over a permanent deal for the Manchester United forward.
Nevertheless, neither Barcelona nor those close to the player believe the situation is completely settled.
The Blaugrana must decide whether to activate the €30 million clause and secure Rashford permanently, or allow the deadline to pass and lose the favourable terms already agreed with Manchester United.
