Aaron Donald considering return to Rams, per Aaron Donald

Aaron Donald has been adamant about the fact that when he retired in 2024, he meant it, rebuking queries by the Rams organization over the last two years if he would consider a return. That was before the Rams traded for Myles Garrett though.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Pat McAfee said on his show that he texted Donald about un-retiring after the Rams acquired Garrett and that the three-time Defensive Player of the Year replied, “It for sure got me thinking haha.”

The idea that Donald and Garrett could both be on L.A.’s defensive line next season takes the value of the Garrett trade up another level, if it happens.

McAfee inquired more on if Donald was serious and if it was okay for him to tell people that he said that, with Donald indicating that after two years off and at age 35, he needs to test his body out first prior to committing to a return.

In his last NFL season, Donald was a first-team All-Pro for the eighth time and had eight sacks. He has also been posting workout videos recently with hints that he’s working towards a comeback via captions and song tracks, but that’s not necessarily anything new.

This Garrett trade is very fresh though and according to Donald, it’s got him seriously thinking about a comeback. With two months to go before training camp and much more before the Rams fly to Australia for Week 1, Donald has time on his side in one way. He might be 35, but he’s got a few months to feel like he’s a kid again.
