3-star linebacker from Arizona commits to Wisconsin's 2027 class

MADISON – It's fair to say Wisconsin’s first big weekend of official visits was a success.

The Badgers opened their doors to 19 high school players over the weekend. Six of them had yet to commit to UW at that point.

By the end of the day May 31, two of those six announced commitments to Wisconsin.

Four-star receiver Jai Jones declared his intention before noon. Nathan Jones, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker, waited until the evening to announce his commitment.

Jones attends Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona, the same program that produced Badgers linebacker Jon Jon Kamara. He played his junior season at Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona, and finished with 84 tackles that included 61 solo stops, 23½ tackles for a loss and 11½ sacks.

Jones is a consensus three-star prospect who announced 15 offers on Instagram, the last coming from Wisconsin on May 8. Five other Power Four programs offered: North Carolina, Florida State, Baylor, Kansas State and Arizona.

His commitment pushes the Badgers total for the 2027 class to 15.

The class entered the day June 1 ranked No. 18th in the nation by 247sports and No. 24 by Rivals/On3.
