The World Cup will be the most-bet event in the world this summer, so which teams are favored to win it all and where does the U.S. stand?

At BetMGM, Spain is the slight favorite at +450, followed by France (+500), England (+700), Brazil (+800), and Portugal (+900). Argentina — 2022 World Cup winner — and Lionel Messi also have +900 odds, followed by Germany (14-1) and the Netherlands (20-1).

Every other team has at least 33-1 odds, including the United States at 50-1. The U.S. had 66-1 odds to win the 2026 World Cup before the draw, but those odds were shortened after the favorable group draw.

One notable bet made before the December 2025 World Cup Draw was a $5,000 wager on the United States to win it all at 75-1 odds at Hard Rock Bet. The wager would pay $375,000 if the U.S. can win its first World Cup ever.

The United States will open 2026 World Cup play on Friday, June 12, against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
